Editing a book or a paper is simple. The blue pencil’s tip scores off the reporter’s toil on a piece of paper without a second thought, and after some experience, almost mechanically. Editing the memory book of one’s life, however, is a different feeling of the mind, heart and soul. The blue pencil’s sharp tip goes deep, it’s pricks are incisive, grammatical corrections can not fill in the blanks caused by the dear ones who left early, the scars remain ruggedly etched on the script while the carelessly preserved happy moments need archeological restoration, and lots of trash needs to shred. It’s not a reporter’s toil, it’s editing one’s own story. It’s a different ball game.
